Nails Treatment For Some Of The Conditions:

Following are a few tips that can treat and prevent some of the nail conditions like cracks, yellow and white color, splits, and infections. Healthy diet, honey, lemon juice, and vitamin E oil are some of the ingredients that can be used for the purpose.

  1. Baking Soda: The drying nature of baking soda is very useful in keeping the brittle and moist nails dry. It also keeps any infection of nail at bay and saves the nail from cracking and discoloring. It also softens the hard cuticles around the nail and makes their appearance good.
    • Wash, clean, and dry the nails and using a brush dust some baking soda on it.
  2. Sea Salt: Sea salt is an excellent way to exfoliate the dead cells under and around nails and at the same time fight any infection that might result in the condition. A gentle massage would ensure enough blood circulation to the nails which helps in correcting the problem and damage.
    • Take a tablespoon of sea salt and directly massage the nails with it. Or add it to some lukewarm water and soak your fingers for some time and exfoliate. Or take 2 parts of sea salt; and 1 part each of baking soda and chickpea flour and add enough water to it for the same purpose.
  3. Olive Oil: This remedy helps strengthen the nails, soften the cuticles, and fights bacterial, fungal, and yeast infections effectively. Also, the antioxidants in it help the nail cracking that is caused due to aging factor.
    • Take a tablespoon of olive oil and to it add a few drops of vitamin E oil and massage the nails with it to nourish.
  4. Castor Oil: Castor oil moisturizes the dry and brittle nails, exfoliates the dead cells, repairs any damage and injury to the nails, and the anti-bacterial properties fight infection. It also reduces the negative effects of harsh detergents, and chemicals on the nail and treats any damage caused by frequently soaking hands in water.
    • Rub castor oil twice a day on and around damaged nails.
  5. Healthy Food: Healthy diet full of zinc, proteins, calcium, and other vitamins and other essentials is very important in correcting the problem effectively.
    • Eggs, liver, wholegrain products, nuts, fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, spices, garlic, herbs, spinach and many more healthy options should be included in food.
  6. Vinyl Gloves: Wearing vinyl instead of rubber or latex gloves is recommended to protect over exposure of nails to detergents, chemicals, water, etc. These gloves will save the hands and nails from abrasive and overtly moisturizing nature of certain substances. To keep the hands dry dust some baking soda in the gloves.
    • Wear vinyl gloves when working in water.
  7. Vitamin E Oil: Vitamin E oil strengthens the nail, makes them stronger, and treats the brittleness, cracks, and splits. It nourishes the nail and also fights any damage or infection that can cause the damage. Other than the oil, consuming food that is rich in vitamin E should also be included in daily diet. Foods like spinach, almonds, eggs, and wholegrain food should be consumed.
    • Massage nails with vitamin E oil twice a day.
  8. Honey And Lemon: The anti-bacterial behavior of lemon and honey will fight any infection that causes brittle and delicate nails. It nourishes them and moisturizes the nails and the cuticles naturally and removes the dead skin cells. This simple home remedy also prevents, heals, and cures any bacterial, fungal, and yeast infections.
    • Mix 1 part of honey and 2 parts of lemon juice and either directly use this on the brittle nails or mix it in ½ cup of lukewarm water and dip your nails in it for 5 minutes.

Apart from the above mentioned nails treatment, you should also make sure not to pick, bite, or grow the nail longer. Avoid using nail remover frequently, or over moisturizing the nails.
